Mexican Independence Day

Celebrate Mexican Independence Day

Celebrate Mexican Independence Day by exercising your right to enjoy south-of-the-border delicacies at your favorite Mercadito restaurant. On Monday, September 15, 2008, Mercadito, Mercadito Grove and the modern taqueria Mercadito Cantina are the perfect places to honor Mexico’s 1810 independence from Spain with delightful dishes in a fun and festive atmosphere.

The brothers Sandoval, restaurateur/owner Alfredo and chef/owner Patricio, showcase their Mexican heritage through traditional menu items and twists on old-world recipes that appeal to modern tastes. Mexican Independence Day specials include a $35 sharing menu at Mercadito and a fish taquiza special at Mercadito Grove. Mercadito and Mercadito Grove will also feature picadillo chile relleno on their menu for the entire month of September for $20.50!

As famous for their drinks as they are for their cuisine, Mercadito and Mercadito Cantina will also offer $10 “El Grito” cocktails on September 15th. Created by renowned beverage consultants Tippling Bros., and featuring their signature “tric-quila” tequila substitute, “El Grito,” which translates to “The Scream, ” relates to the scream of “Viva Mexico” heard during the holiday. Mexican music will also be in the air at Mercadito and Mercadito Grove as a live mariachi band serenades diners from 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm.
