Because of shrinking wallets, we’re seeing more beer cocktails on the menu…
Brew Tuesday at Artisanal
In keeping with our winter themed nights (Monday Night is Comfort Food at Artisanal), we’ve created Brew Tuesdays. Our craft beers (regularly $7 to $13) will be half price on Tuesday night. Chef Brennan has added Choucroute Garni and Flambée, two classic Alsatian dishes that pair nicely with beer, to the menu on Tuesdays. And to enjoy any night: new Beer Cocktails ($12 to $14) such as East Side Story (Hofbrau Hefe-Weisen, Ten Cane Rum, Fresh Lime Juice and Muddled Mint) and Cabo San Lager (Radeberger Lager,
Chinaco Blanco Tequila and Fresh Lime Juice).www.artisanalbistro.com. 212-725-8585. 32nd Between Park and Madison.
Red Hot Poker Drinks at L’Ecole Restaurant
Dave Arnold, the Director of Culinary Technology at The French Culinary Institute, has custom built a Red Hot Poker (pictured above) to be used in creating new hot alcoholic drinks at L’Ecole Restaurant at the school. The high heat from the poker– which heats to 1,600 degrees Fahrenheit– creates a “caramelized note” not created by other forms of heat, he said. Come try, The Red Hot Manhattan (sazerac rye and vermouth) or The Red Hot Ale (amber ale and cognac) for $12 each at L’Ecole Restaurant at The French Culinary Institute, 462 Broadway at Grand, New York City. www.frenchculinary.com/lecole. 212-219-3300. 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly.
