La Reine Astrid, a four-star Warwick Hotel located in the historic city of Lyon, France, has announced a new package certain to start hearts racing among those who relish the unequalled power, skill and adrenaline of Formula One racing. Available throughout 2009, the Formula One Experience package combines a VIP stay at this luxury residence with the chance to test your racing skills behind the wheel of the most realistic Formula One racing simulator in the world. La Reine Astrid in Lyon is an ideal side trip from Paris (it can be reached in just under two hours via the Thalys Fast Train). Guests visiting from the U.S. can take advantage of a recently inaugurated Delta Airlines non-stop flight between New York’s JFK International Airport and Lyon.
The Formula One Experience package is being offered in conjunction with I-WAY of Lyon, which opened in June 2008. The company’s six Formula One simulators offer an experience almost indistinguishable from actually steering a multi-million dollar race car in one of the race world’s most prestigious events. In fact, with 850 horse power, 19,000 RPM and almost 2 g-force, the driving experience is so physically and mentally intense that guests are advised to bring an additional shirt to change after their race has ended.

“Formula One drivers are international sports heroes,” said Ali Afshar, general manager of La Reine Astrid. “For a short time, our guests will actually be able to experience this celebrity lifestyle, from four-star accommodations and VIP treatment at our hotel to the thrill of a simulated Grand Prix driving experience. It’s a package certain to create a lifelong memory.”

The Formula One Experience package includes a two-night stay in one of the hotel’s oversized private suites (592 square feet) with a VIP welcome, full buffet breakfast and complimentary transportation to and from I-WAY. The package starts at 190 Euros (approximately $250 dollars) for single occupancy. This elegant and intimate hotel offers a variety of amenities, including attentive personal service, a 24-hour business corner, Wi-Fi Internet access and a fully equipped fitness center with sauna and steam baths. In this city known as the capital of French gastronomy, La Reine Astrid offers a variety of options for food and beverage, from room service to Le Lounge bar and restaurant.
Once at I-WAY, drivers will be able to select from one of three Formula One tracks. Track One is a fast track of 6,179 kilometers; Track Two is a fast technical track of 4,804 kilometers; and Track Three is a technical track of 5,699 kilometers. Each track offers both tight turns and wide-open stretches for the complete driving experience (tracks and more information can be viewed at www.i-way.fr.com).
In addition to a world-class racing experience, visitors can enjoy the many attractions of Lyon, France’s capital city of French Cuisine, its second-largest city due to strong economic growth and a UNESCO World Heritage Site (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). An ancient city, Lyon combines sites of historical significance with all of the modern entertainment and shopping options, and it is close to two of France’s best-known wine growing regions (Beaujolais and Cotes du Rhone).
