TWO NEW VARIETALS ADDED TO THE SOPRANOS® LINE OF FINE ITALIAN WINES
Cabernet / Merlot / Sangiovese – IGT Sicilia and Pinot Grigio Friuli Doc Grave
Are Latest “Hits” Inspired by Legendary HBO® TV Series
The Sopranos Wines, the line of fine Italian wines inspired by the beloved HBO television series, has introduced a pair of new tier 2 varietals ($14.99 to $16.99) to its product line – a Cabernet / Merlot / Sangiovese – IGT Sicilia and a Pinot Grigio Friuli Doc Grave. Both of these exciting new wines (as with the entire line of The Sopranos Wines) will be available for distribution to retailers from coast-to-coast across the U.S.
“We are excited to be working with Vesuvio Import Company and Duggan’s Distillers to bring these quality Italian wines to fans of The Sopranos and wine enthusiasts alike,” added James Costos, Vice President, Licensing and Retail at HBO.
The Sopranos Cabernet / Merlot / Sangiovese – IGT Sicilia (2007) is a captivating Italian blend with up to a year of oak aging and can be enjoyed at present or following another 3-5 years of aging. A vigorous wine, full-bodied and elegant, with an intense, ruby color, it presents a strong range of scents, including berries and ripe yellow pepper. Ideal as a red meat wine, the new blend drinks well with roasted chicken or a grilled porterhouse steak.
Coming of age in Friuli, the rugged northern mountains of Italy, the Pinot Grigio Friuli Doc Grave isn’t afraid to assert itself. Strong fragrances, crispy acidity and a stalwart fruit core command attention with every sip. This popular Pinot is suitable for a wide range of options from dinner for two to a large family get-together. This new Sopranos Pinot Grigio is a richly harvested wine, nicely balanced between traditional fruit and ripe tropical flavors. It should be served lightly chilled and is ideally paired with oysters, spicy grilled chicken or any grilled seafood.
“Our wines continue to be embraced and enjoyed all across the U.S. and we are extremely excited to bring our latest varietals to market,” commented Mark Gonsalves, Managing Partner for Vesuvio Import Company, producer and importer of The Sopranos Wines.
