Curaçao Launches iPhone Application
Curaçao is the first island in the Caribbean to have a dedicated iPhone application. “iPhone apps are celebrated as one of the newest and most innovative developments in information and technology, and by launching an iPhone app we are telling consumers that Curaçao is modern, forward-thinking and different,” says Steve Johnson, Curaçao Tourist Board.
Subscribers to the free Curaçao app will be able to select a treasure or take a photo and bury it in the sand on one of Curaçao’s beautiful beaches. Then they will send a message to another user that says “I’ve buried a treasure for you on a beach in Curaçao – click here to begin your treasure hunt.”
Utilizing the technology of the iPhone, the recipient would then be able to dig through the sand and search the beach. When they find the treasure icon they will click on it and their “treasure” (the image or treasure sent) will populate the iPhone screen. Then a message will say, “Here is your hidden treasure! To discover Curaçao – the Caribbean’s Hidden Treasure go to www.curacao.com.

Curaçao’s 43rd International Blue Marlin Release Tournament
On April 6, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles, Emily de Jongh-Elhage, visited Curaçao to honor the winners of the 43rd Luhrs International Blue Marlin Release Tournament organized by the Curaçao Yacht Club. Forty-seven boats participated in the tag & release tournament with participants from the U.S., Venezuela, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. All three of the ABC islands had a lucky team on the victory platform! Team Driftwood from Aruba took the $10,000 first prize with the catch and release of two Blue Marlin. Le Grand Blue from Bonaire released one big blue and Hey Chama from Curaçao released a smaller Blue Marlin. Curaçao Dive Festival Delivers Fun, Educational Experience for Divers
