J Vineyards & Winery: Top Quality Sparkling Wines

For twenty years, J Vineyards & Winery has been making fine sparkling wine from their vineyards in the Russian River Valley. These wines define the RRV style — a combination of balance, complexity and elegance and the classic expression of quality .

Below are two sparkling representatives that will charm you for the holidays or any time of the year. The J Cuvée 20 Brut NV is austere and classic, while the J Brut Rosé NV will teach those, whose favorite wine-color is not pink, that Rosé  is beautiful and in sparkling wines, often sells at a premium for good reason.

The vineyards

The grapes for this Brut Rosé were selected from J’s Estate Vineyards in the Russian River Valley. The vineyards yield a balanced crop of clean, flavorful grapes that exhibit bright, lush aromas.

All grapes for the J Brut Rosé are hand-harvested into small quarter-ton bins and placed as whole clusters, without destemming, into their special Coquard press for a gentle pressing cycle.

After secondary fermentation in the bottle, the wines aged for an average of 36 months in their cool cellars. Dosage was made from a blend of wood-aged, reserve wines and pure cane sugar. The wine is aged for another six months before release from the cellars.

Tasting Notes

This J Brut Rosé sparkles with a luminous cool pink hue and exudes delicate aromas of strawberry, nectarine and juicy red apples. On the palate, the wine opens with flavors of cherry, blood orange, citrus peel and tropical star fruit that are underlined by a bright acidity that keeps the overall impression delightfully fresh. The wine engages the entire palate with balance, wrapped in a refined body of elegance and effervescence, ending with a lively and lingering finish.

The Kahala Hotel Cameos in the New Hawaii

The Kahala Hotel Cameos in the New Hawaii 5-O with a Three-Night Dolphin Package at the End of the Show, Now Offered with a Fourth Night Free Through December 23, 2010

he feel-good moment in the broadcast premiere of the new Hawaii Five-O happens when hard-nosed McGarrett gifts the irascible-yet-lovable Danno with a three-night stay at The Kahala Hotel & Resort. The gesture lets Danno spend some quality time with his daughter and "swim with the dolphins" after a busy day of chasing bad guys.
In the final minutes, Steve McGarrett says to Danny "Danno" Williams: "It’s three nights at the Kahala hotel. Look, I know you’re going to say no, but Gracie’s coming over this weekend right? OK, so I heard this place has a pool, you can swim with the dolphins, just take it."
While most of us are not dodging bullets for a living, we all could use a three-night getaway at the legendary Kahala Hotel & Resort and a swim with joy-inducing dolphins. The new Kahala 5-0 Promotion is even better than the one that Danno gets on the show, as it includes a fourth night free. Add in a Dolphin Lanai Room overlooking the swimming dolphins, daily breakfast buffet for two at Plumeria Beach House, $50 resort credit per stay, two stuffed dolphins upon arrival and 25% off Dolphin Quest activities at $675 per night, minimum three nights.
Of course, this is not The Kahala’s first encounter with Hawaii Five-O. When the original series began filming in 1968, actor Jack Lord arranged for guest stars to stay at The Kahala, including Helen Hayes, Martin Sheen, and William Shatner. Be on the lookout for The Kahala in future episodes.
