The 2008 Meritage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot,
and Malbec.  Lush tannins and intense fruit flavors of black currant,
blackberries, plums, and cocoa combine on the palate for an excellent structure.
Our Meritage is full, supple, and rich with a lengthy finish that will leave you
lingering for more.

54% Cabernet, 19% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec

The Vineyard
Our 2008 Meritage comes from the heart of Napa Valley in the Oak Knoll
AVA.  Oak Knoll is known for mixed soil types that create tons of full flavored,
intense fruit profiles.

The Winemaking
The winemaker builds this blend piece by piece to ensure a wine with layers of
complex aromas and flavors. Kevin uses modern techniques of cold soaking the
grapes prior to fermentation and a slow, cool fermentation rate. This insures
maximum extractions of color, not tannins, and the preservation of the fruit
flavors.  This wine is then barrel aged in 22 months in 100% New French Oak.
The Vintage

Napa Valley’s vintners will remember 2008 as a year that offered winemakers a
little bit of everything. It may end up being a year known for exceptional
quality but not abundance.  Drought preceded a hard frost, which led to an
uneven set and a small crop. The heat spikes started just as the harvest began
but after that it was all smooth sailing.

A great wine and worth the price. Wonderful tannins and subtle fruit. Any beef, game or cheese will be a perfect companion.  Drink now or over  the next 10 years.
